A visit to the Clearwater\/St. Petersburg area often means visiting beaches, taking tours or maybe heading on a\u00a0<\/span>day trip<\/span><\/a>. Beer enthusiasts should also know that the county is also known for its local breweries. If you’re visiting the north part of the county, you can access some through the\u00a0<\/span>Pinellas Bike Trail<\/span><\/a>. Former railroad tracks, it’s now a way for pedestrians, in-line skaters and bicyclists to relax and exercise, making visiting breweries easily accessible. Discover the breweries in Tarpon Springs and Palm Harbor you can visit right off the Pinellas Bike Trail.<\/span><\/p>\n

Breweries Tarpon Springs<\/strong><\/h4>\n

The northernmost city in Pinellas County, Tarpon Springs is known for its Greek heritage and connections to the sponge diving industry. A quiet town, Tarpon Springs is seeing a rebirth and is now home to several breweries located close to the Pinellas Trail.<\/p>\n

Two Frogs Brewing Company<\/h6>\n

Located at\u00a0151 E. Tarpon Avenue<\/strong><\/p>\n

Specializing in clean ales that are perfect in the Florida heat, Two Frogs is a play on the last name of the father-son owners, Michael and Chad Croake. Located in the town\u2019s former drug store, Two Frogs often has live music on weekend nights (children aren\u2019t allowed in the bar after 8 pm). Snacks and sodas available.<\/p>\n

Brighter Days Brewing Company<\/h6>\n

Located at 311 N. Stafford Avenue<\/strong><\/p>\n

One of the newest breweries in Tarpon Springs, Brighter Days Brewing sits directly on the trail. Located in a large red barn shaped build, Brighter Days provides bike parking and a take-out window so you can grab and go with your growler or canned beers without having to go inside. There is indoor seating and two locations fo outdoor seating – one in the garage area and a deck area where there’s often live music. The service is great and so are the beers. One of the best things – they have new selections all the time so you’ll never get bored.<\/p>\n

Silverking Brewing<\/h6>\n

Located at 325 E. Lemon Street<\/strong><\/p>\n

Housed in the original Tarpon Springs jail and firehouse, Silverking is a brewery centered around fishing. There’s fishing paraphernalia displayed throughout the brewery, and even its name comes from fishing. Did you know that silver king is another name for the Atlantic Tarpon fish? Which is how Tarpon Springs got its name. With eight staple beers, there’s something for everyone.<\/p>\n

Breweries Palm Harbor<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Just south of Tarpon Springs on the Pinellas Trail is the unincorporated city of Palm Harbor. Less downtown and more suburban on this portion, the trail is close to three breweries. All are less than a quarter of a mile from each other.<\/p>\n

de Bine Brewing Company<\/h6>\n

Located at 993 Florida Avenue\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

With indoor and outdoor seating, de Bine offers ever-changing taps of beers. They also have snacks, wine and non-alcoholic drinks. Inside there’s a stage where they host live music and comedians on certain days.<\/p>\n

Two Lions Winery & Palm Harbor Brewery<\/h6>\n

Located at 1022 Georgia Avenue<\/strong><\/p>\n

Located slightly off the Pinellas Trail, Two Lions Winery & Palm Harbor Brewery is a must-visit. Smaller than the other two Palm Harbor breweries, that doesn’t mean you’ll get lesser quality.<\/p>\n

Started by owner Rose, the beers and wines are all made in house. Wine isn’t usually associated with Florida. Wait until you taste Rose’s! She even has wine slushes available. Her beer is just as excellent. While the beers rotate, they’ve all been top-notch when we visited.<\/p>\n

May We Suggest:<\/strong> Mulled Red Wine and Hoppy Trail IPA<\/p>\n

Stilt House Brewery<\/h6>\n

Located at 625 US-19 ALT <\/strong><\/p>\n

Located in a small strip mall next to a pool supply store, you could easily miss Stilt House if you weren\u2019t looking for it. Especially from the Pinellas Trail. As you head south on the trail and pass the Palm Harbor overhead trail market. Look to your left to find Stilt House. There are over 15 beers on tap in a wide variety of styles, along with wine and non-alcoholic drinks.<\/p>\n

Renting a Bike<\/h4>\n

There are several bike rental shops in Tarpon Springs. One of the better ones is Tarpon Tom’s Outdoor Adventure<\/a>. They have plenty of rentals and great ratings.<\/p>\n

In Palm Harbor, there’s not anything near the Pinellas Trail, but Chainwheel Drive<\/a> is located on a major thruway and provide excellent service (our family has purchased bikes and gotten bikes repaired here). They rent regular bikes and also road\/racing bikes as well.<\/p>\n

Where to Stay<\/h4>\n

If you’re coming to visit, there aren’t a lot of hotels in the area as it’s more suburban than city. There are plenty of Vrbo rentals<\/a> though to be found in both cities, some extremely close to the Pinellas Trail. It’s a great way to be able to enjoy all the breweries within walking or biking distance of your bed.<\/p>\n
