Travel and writing have both been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. I loved to travel and I loved to write but I never thought of combining those two things until a few years ago with this travel blog. Now I\u2019m at a point where I\u2019m ready to go network and brainstorm with other travel writers and \u00a0I\u2019m attending my first <\/span>mastermind<\/span><\/a> which will take place in the <\/span>Riviera Maya<\/span> of Mexico. Here\u2019s what I have to look forward to: <\/span><\/p>\n

Hotel<\/b><\/h4>\n

We\u2019ll be having our mastermind at the <\/span>Grand Velas Riviera Maya<\/span><\/a>. Offering guests 3 unique room experiences (<\/span>The Grand Class\u00a0<\/span><\/a>(romantic), <\/span>The Ambassador \u00a0<\/span><\/a>(family friendly) and <\/span>The Zen Grand <\/span><\/a>(relaxation)), Grand Velas Riviera Maya is an all-inclusive resort with something to offer for everyone. <\/span><\/p>\n

There are 8 <\/span>restaurants\u00a0<\/span><\/a>(some family friendly, some adults only) which include 5 Diamond AAA rated ones. There are also pools, \u00a0a world class <\/span>spa\u00a0<\/span><\/a>and beachfront property. \u00a0I will be there mainly to learn and work, but I\u2019m hoping to get a room in the The Zen Grand, eat at least one meal at their French restaurant <\/span>Piaf<\/span><\/a> and get a little time to experience their <\/span>spa water treatment<\/span><\/a>!<\/span><\/p>\n

Adventures <\/b><\/h4>\n

Part of our travel bloggers mastermind includes experiencing things so that we can share them with our readers. To help us do that we\u2019ll be taking an all-day excursion with <\/span>Alltournative<\/span><\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n

Created to help tourists experience the natural beauty and history of the Riviera Maya, Alltournative is committed to preserving its environment in an eco-friendly, respectful way. This includes only allowing <\/span>biodegradable sunscreens\u00a0<\/span><\/a>and <\/span>bug sprays\u00a0<\/span><\/a>on their excursions and visiting authentic Mayan communities. We\u2019ll be doing the <\/span>Coba Mayan Encounter<\/span><\/a>. I\u2019m not going to lie – I\u2019m a little scared to zipline. But if my 10 year old can zip line at Girl Scout camp, I think I can give it shot! What I\u2019m really looking forward to the traditional Mayan meal, swimming in a <\/span>cenote\u00a0<\/span><\/a>and learning more about the Mayan culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

Traveling Solo<\/b><\/h4>\n

I need to admit that I\u2019m a little nervous about traveling without my family. Not because I\u2019ll be a female flying to a foreign country alone and meeting up with 9 other people I only know through Facebook and conference calls. I\u2019m prepared with travel items that will protect my well being and I plan on being very alert while there. Honestly, I feel a little guilty for leaving my family for so long. <\/span><\/p>\n

However I\u2019m very, very excited about learning more about travel blogging, getting to meet and learn from bloggers I\u2019ve only known online and getting a little time to myself after a really rough year. So I\u2019ll be sharing all my experiences with my readers and social media followers from the time I hit Orlando in a few days to the time I return. Stay tuned!<\/span><\/p>\n
